Why hiding text in images needs care

Screenshots and photos of letters, receipts, IDs and chats are everywhere, and they are routinely shared with details that should have stayed private. Uploading them to a free online blur tool means the original, readable image travels to someone else's server. Light blurring is also risky: modern software can often reconstruct pixelated or lightly blurred text, so the strength of the effect matters.

The Image Text Blurring Canvas runs on an HTML5 canvas in your browser. Draw a box over the text and choose strong blur, coarse pixelation or a solid black fill. The preview updates instantly, and the exported JPG or PNG is generated in memory. Because the export is a flat set of pixels, the original is not hidden underneath. For highly sensitive text such as card numbers or passwords, prefer the solid fill or the strongest settings.

How to use Image Text Blurring Canvas in 3 steps

  1. Drop an image (JPG, PNG or WebP) onto the upload area. It appears on the canvas instantly.
  2. Pick an effect and strength, then drag over any text you want to hide. Undo the last box if you need to try again.
  3. Choose JPG or PNG and click "Download Image" to save the blurred copy to your device.

Frequently asked questions

Is blur or pixelate secure?

A strong effect applied to large text is generally unreadable, but weak blur and fine pixelation can sometimes be reversed. For passwords, card numbers and ID numbers use the solid black option or increase the strength until the content is not recognisable.

Does the original image get uploaded?

No. The image is drawn onto a canvas in your browser and the exported file is built locally. No server is involved at any step.

Will the exported image keep EXIF data?

No. The export is rendered from the canvas, which does not carry EXIF or GPS metadata. To inspect what an image contains first, use the EXIF stripper tool.
