By accessing and using the TrueRedact website (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
TrueRedact provides client-side document redaction, flattening, sanitization, EXIF stripping, and inspection tools. All computational analysis and byte manipulation are executed locally on your computing device via client-side JavaScript and HTML5 APIs. TrueRedact does not provide cloud storage, remote processing, or document archiving services.
3. User Responsibility & Mandatory Verification
While TrueRedact implements robust content-stream deletion and multi-engine verification mechanisms, different PDF generators and scan configurations vary widely.
You are solely responsible for inspecting and verifying all redacted documents prior to external dissemination.Before sending a redacted document to a third party, employer, government agency, court, or landlord, you agree to:
- Open the output file in an independent PDF reader (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, Apple Preview, or a browser).
- Test text selection, copying (Ctrl+A / Ctrl+C), and text searching (Ctrl+F) across all redacted sections.
- Ensure that all intended confidential fields (including account numbers, routing codes, social security numbers, and addresses) are completely unrecoverable.
- Verify whether headers, footers, or adjacent pages repeat the sensitive data.
4. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. TRUEREDACT DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR SPECIFIC LEGAL OR COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS, OR THAT REDACTED DOCUMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED BY ANY COURT OR INSTITUTION.
5. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TRUEREDACT, ITS OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, ACCIDENTAL DISCLOSURE OF CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION, IDENTITY THEFT, OR REGULATORY FINES.
6. Permitted Use
You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or attempt to tamper with, reverse engineer, or disrupt the client-side execution of the scripts.
7. Modifications to the Service and Terms
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any tool or feature of the Service at any time without notice. Continued use of the Service following any amendments constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
